Stephen Thornton was born the same year the Town of Westlake became a
municipality in 1956, making him Westlake’s longest living resident. His present residence has been his family’s home base since before his father was born in 1917 at the historic 1870’s cottage. In a class of 1974, Stephen graduated from the one Keller High School and obtained a double major Bachelors of Science degree in Geology and Biology from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Mr. Thornton owns Home Sweet Home Cleaning Services, owns and manages a 30 acre “private park”, and owns, renovates, and manages rental properties, several which are historical. He is married to his British love, Paula Thornton.
Stephen enjoys the outdoors and nature which includes varied botanical and
geological settings.

Stephen appreciates innovation and the American Dream. He loves to travel, explore and, create new venues and events. He likes to play drums, sing solos and sing in a choir. He plans to turn his ancient tennis memories into pickle ball activities. Stephen has been involved in several non-profits; as President of Westlake’s Tree City USA Advisory Committee and Historical Preservation Society and as the Chairman of the Board at Arts Council Northeast. He is the winner of the Home Town Hero, Westlake’s Citizen of the Heart, Citizen on the Year, and The Cross Timbers Legacy Award.
